I going to be building a “southwestern” style house with vigas spanning the ceilings in several rooms. The vigas (not purchased yet but plan on pine??) will span mostly 16′ with one up to 19′. They are not structural and will be added after 1x tonge & groove pine is nail to the ceiling joists. Is there are common method to attach vigas in this situation? They will run from an interior wall (2×4) to exterior (11 ” ICF).
Thanks for any suggestions.

These guys have a viga bracket: http://christnerwoodworkers.com/steel.html
I've also seen some with a lead collar for protecting the end from water damage. That would hide a variety of fasteners.
I can imagine using pocket screws, too. At the right spot, they'd be nearly invisible.
Thanks, their brackets look like a simple solution.
