I have an all stucco (EIFS) 7 year old home and have several questions related to some remodel and additon work I am planning.
I plan to add a pergola over a portion of the deck. The beams (rafters) would be attached to the house with a ledger board and supported by posts and beam on the outside. I also am planning a narrow pergola over the garage door which will be attached by ledger and brackets.
1. What is the best way to attach the ledger to the stucco wall? If it was siding or brick I would just use lag screws but I’m not sure is there are any issues doing this with stucco since it has the 1 in foam layer under it.
2. What is the best way to seal against moisture penetration behind the ledger or brackets? Is a good quality caulk along the top of the ledger adequate?
Another question: For an interior room remodel I am planning to replace several windows with smaller windows. Can a good stucco applicator match the color and texture of the existing stucco to fill in the gaps in the exterior surface left by installing the smaller windows in the larger opening?
Anybody out there with some experience dealing with these issues?
Thanks in advance,
Sam
