Hello. I have a new construction two-story building (office, exercise/dance room, garage – 1600 sq ft. – 8″ thick full foundation 14’x 22′) on my property. The building inspector came and revealed that the carpenter did not use pressure treated wood for the first layer of wood (sill plate?) sitting on the foundation. He told me I would have to replace it! Is this job as much of a nightmare as it appears to me to be, or is it fairly easily done? What about the support pins that protrude from the fondation and through the sill plate – can they possibly survive the change? If not, what anchors the building to the foundation?
Oh,oh.
