I have an unfinished attic, which has insulation just in the floor of the attic.
It has an exhaust fan at the open window at one end of the attic (only window in the attic).
I believe that there is some venting around the soffits(?) already (not sure though, new house to me).
I am wondering if I am meant to leave this window open during the winter or if it is okay to shut the window, since I will not be using this exhaust fan at all during the winter (Boston).
Thanks.
Tom

Hi Tom,
Before you close anything, you should check the entire attic for vent pipes from below.
It wouldn't be the first time that the attic was used for venting instead of extending the pipes through the roof.
If your bathrooms/kitchen vent into the attic, moisture could become a problem if sealed off.
