Attic insulation and vapor barrier
Thank you to all who responded to my earlier post on insulating both the floor and rafters of our small attic. (The problem is that the rafters are 2×6, we live in Boston, and the standing room is already so small that we don’t want to build down from the rafters.) Concensus seemed to be that insulating both the floor and rafters posed no particular problem, but that moisture could be. Again, thanks–that’s very helpful. Now a related question: Should I install a vapor barrier in both places–in the floor and on the rafters? Actually, I’ve got a couple of other questions. Dense pack cellulose is comletely new to me. Is it appropriate for the rafters. Would it find its way under the air baffles if we use them? And we have Cobra ridge venting–does that affect whether we need the continuous baffles from the soffits to the ridge?
