I need help identifying a type of paintable insulation that I read about several years ago in Fine Homebuilding and recently in a local newspaper. This product was developed and used for 20 years by the military. It is now being used in residential construction. It is applied in the attic to the underside of the roof, and is supposed to greatly enhance the insulation efficiency of a home. We will have a metal roof over lath. My builder says he hasn’t heard of it; none of our local building suppliers has heard of it, and I can’t locate it on the web. I think its name is something like “Reliant.”
I’d like any information that I can get on this product–its name, who makes it, how good is it, are there any health concerns, etc.

SherwinWilliams Paints sells a product in the Dallas, TX area. It is a spray applied radiant barrier. If your roof material has a galvanized finish, I don't think it will be of much use.

I think you are describing what is being marketed as Trade Name "Liquid Siding." It is a liquid paint and ceramic mixture used by NASA and the Military. It supposedly has a R value of 20 for a single coating.
