I’m new to the forum. Can anyone direct me to plans for building an attic ladder? The dimensions of the ready-to-install attic ladders available from Werner and other manufacturers are not the proper size for my application. My ceiling height is 8 feet. I would like a unit with a 30 inch opening. The ceiling is now covered by sheet rock. Thanks.

Building an attic ladder is not easy. And installing a folding attic ladder in an existing structure is even more difficult.
If you have trusses supporting the roof then you cannot simply cut through the bottom member of them to create a space for the ladder -- to do so could literally cause the roof to collapse.
You can buy ladders that are 30" wide. A local lumberyard should have a source for them.
What Dan said is 100% correct - You can't cut trusses for a ladder. Hopefully you have ceiling joists and it's not so complicated.
