has anyone ever built with attic truss’s and if so what do you think about me using them on a 30’30’ garage/loft for temporary living space?

New,Go for it,I've used attic trusses before and they worked out fine.Have your local truss rep spec.them for you and you shouldn't have any problems.Vince
*The attic trusses are no problem. Just don't try to push the limits of the room too much - keep a length over depth ratio of 20 to 1 or less on the bottom chord so they don't bounce too much. The one thing that you said that bothers me is "temporary living space". You may have problems running an HVAC system, and plumbing could be a problem. Make sure you've thought those things through before you get too far into the project.
*In looking at these they seem very efficient but, if one wants a continous air barrier, what strategies or techniques work in decompartmentalizing the inside from the outside?
*Every time I've priced out 1 1/2 story garage/barns it has worked out cheaper to just make the building larger and skip the upper level. You are paying a premium for a clear span. And if it is truly temporary living quarters than after the living needs are over, the space for a shop on the first level is easier to utilize.

TLE,
Amen. Those room-in-attic trusses are expensive and by the time you figure the area taken up by the webs on each end you don't really end up with a lot of square footage for the buck.
