My home is 20 years old. Replaced my roof 4 years ago adding ridge vents. It does have soffit vents and gable end vents. I am currently replaceing my siding and my question is should i remove my gable vents and close off to improve ridge vent air flow?

The general (but not unamimous) consensus is yes -- gable vents should be blocked/removed if adequate ridge & eave venting is in place.
As long as you have enough soffit vent, then yes.
BUT - you probably don't have enough soffit vent.
Your ridge vent probably has a continuous 2" vent along it's length... do you have a matching sq inch along your soffit? If not, add more vents in your soffit while the siding work is being done.
Of course, the eave and ridge venting don't need to match square inch for square inch -- nothing's going to blow up -- but the portion of the ridge vent area over that of the eaves essentially "doesn't count" in terms of effectiveness.
