I was told to come to this site that someone may be able to help me.
We bought a home 10 mos old on a slab with frost wall. For the past nine months we have been getting a musty potato smell coming from the baseboards along the other wall and the supporting walls.
At times it is extremely strong.
The contractor and the new home warranty have been trying to solve but no one seems to know whey this is happening.
What I do know is that we had alot of water under the slab it gushed out for 8 hrs straight like a fire hydrant.
If anyone can help this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Debbie

You'll probably get some pretty good answers if you post this at the Breaktime forum. Lot's of builders and such there. Sounds like you need to get rid of the water first. Once the place dries out, the smell will eventually go away, but I'm saying that water is the real problem. I'm sure the folks at Breaktime can give you good advice. Good luck. (Oh, you may want to change the title to something like "Wet slab and odors"--something more descriptive of what's going on. And describe the soil, whether you have gravel under the slab, drain tile, gutters on roof and ground sloped away from house, etc.)
Thank you for your help
