Average length of 2 1/2 inch strip floor
I am trying to find out what is the average length of 2 1/2 inch hard wood strip flooring. I find that some suppliers are selling mixed lengths in bundles and I am suspicious that the bundles are mostly short strips and fewer longer ones. Should I look for more consistent lengths in a bundle or bundles with all a same length? I am leaning toward unfinished strips.
Thank you for input.

Go to hardwoodinstaller.com and buy from Ken. He sells a very wide range of very good products, and they have a great discussion forum. I bought some BR-111 prefinished from him, and it was excellent quality at a competitive price.

I like an average length of around 3-4 feet. It makes a nice tight floor. The longer pieces are the first to bow/twist/warp if it is out of the bundle for any length. If you are doing a job of any size you'll use plenty of little pieces.
I like you idea of unfinished, in the end it will probably cost just a bit more but I like the end product much better.
Lower grades of flooring have more short pieces. Simple as that.
