Was supposed to pour foundation tomorrow, now put off until Monday. It is ICF’s (Reward I-Form), 8″ wall, 8′ high. Instructions say not to backfill until deck is on. I say BS, it depends on the allowed curing time of the concrete and the reinforcement. Back wall is a full 8′ backfill, reinforced with #5 at 24″ o.c. vertically and #4 at 16″ o.c. horizontally. I plan on letting the wall cure for a minimum of 14 days and then backfill with bank run sand (I have time to kill).
Anybody see a problem with this? I don’t see where floor joists and a deck will provide a whole lot of lateral reinforcement, especially when the joists run parallel to said wall. I see a lot of houses being built around here where wall is poured Day 1, stripped Day 2, backfilled Day 3, modular home placed Day 4. To me, that’s pushing your luck in a big way. I figure I can get at least 3000 psi out of a 3500 pound mix at 14 days, especially in an ICF.

jon... just to be safer than sorrier.. i'd brace the top and bottom of your high-fill wall.. or if the deck is on... i'd still brace the bottom... or even better, pour the basement slab
