Does anyone know if there any code requirement for a kitchen backsplash (new construction)? Granite C-top butts into drywall know, plan on tile after closing. Have called inspector and waiting for a call back…..Thanks.

My memory wants to say that only commercial kitchens have code-mandated splashes, but that could be wrong (and not just necessarily wrong just in my jurisdiction, either).
You are likely going to have to give us at least a region in the profile (click on your own name in blue, and you can fill in as much or as little as you care to). The codes vary from AHJ (authority Having Jurisdiction) to another--sometimes even between abutting cities in the same county, too.
How do you define a backsplash? Seriously. Is it a 3" strip of formica, or other stuff to match the counter? Is it a full-height (to the underside of tghe cabs) piece of formica? Maybe a full tile splash. How about wallpaper with a piece of clear lucite to keep grease spatters off the paper. All you really need is a caulk joint to keep water from running down behind the cabinets.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
Inspector called back, just need to caulk c-top to wall for (our) code.
