My daughter is installing a pre-finished floating bamboo floor in her condo. The instructions require a 1/4 in space around the wall perimeter for expansion. She has a fireplace on one wall with a 2 x 4 foot marble area in front of the fireplace. The marble area consists of 1 foot square marble tiles. Can any tell me how much space I should allow as a spacing between the bamboo floor and the marble tile? I know if I fill this space with grout it will not allow for any expansion of the bamboo floor, so any space should probably be filled with a flexible latex caulk or possibly covered with a trim piece.
Thank you for any help. Don M

I have had the same situ and used a pc of trim. If the manu doesn't have a profile for that app. you will likely have to fabricate one.

How does the level of the marble come to the bamboo? A trim that barely goes over both looks good. If you use some of the flooring for your trim, leave a gap of 1'' between the floor and tile. Add to the bottom of your shaped trim a pc of 3/4'' stock x the depth of the flooring + pad (or you can fasten that to your subfloor, semi snug against the tile. Take the shaped trim and fasten that to the subfloor (not the bamboo floor). I like to add to the trim and glue and nail (or screw if you want) that to the subfloor. This will allow the flooring to move under it.
