We’re considering installing a bamboo floor. Any suggestions for sources for bamboo flooring/where we could order? We live in Kansas City. Thanks!

You can get it from many, many sources anymore. Mine's from http://www.bamboofloors.com/. Call Dan Mitchell at Wood Floor Imports in Hiawathi, Iowa. 888-240-8188 He's the pres. Tell him Jim from Asheville, NC sentcha. He'll probably say, "who?" but oh well. I've bought a bunch from him and sent a buncha people there.
Mary, Once you find a few sources (which a simple internet seach will provide), be sure to call two or three prospective suppliers and ask them for a packet of flooring samples. Each manufacturer has a slightly different product...some are solid bamboo, some are a ply-structure, some ply bamboos have all of the plies made from bamboo, some only have the show ply bamboo with the other plies made of softwood. Thicknesses vary as well. Most have wade planks (6")...though I've seen the wider planks cup. Most have 6' planks, which go down faster. The pre-finished aluminum oxide finishes are excellent. The last bamboo I ordered was from TimberGrass. They ship from either Seattle or Cincinnati. They shipped to me (in CT) from Seattle, the cost was reasonable. I purchased the 3.5" by 72" flooring, I had zero rejects in the flooring when unpacking. I'll order from TimberGrass again.

I have had a few people warn me about the dangers of sanding bamboo.
I think almost all suppliers sell prefinished, but if you get into a sanding situation BE CAREFUL! The dust is supposed to be very dangerous.
