can i do that? Id like to make frame and panel kitchen cabinet doors, for the stiles and rails Id use bamboo flooring and rip off the toungs and grooves..
The joinery would be simple, 2 biscuits @ each joint.
This will be in my house, not a costumers, so im willing to expiriment a litte bit.
How stable is bamboo reguarding movement? seems like it would be pretty stable..
thanks..

I can't say I've used this for building cabs, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I do know however that the bamboo is available in 8x4 sheets, I think about $200 per sheet, this might be useful if you need larger pieces and less work than gluing up the flooring.
wow, i diddnt realize you could get sheets, thanks______________________________________________

Yeah, that sheet idea is pretty cool. Where does one begin to look for a sheet of bamboo? Spose I could try the lumberyard, but if there's another avenue, let me know.ADH Carpentry & Woodwork

Formerly just 'Don' but not the 'Glassmaster Don' or the lower-case 'don'.

I have not personally bought them, I'm a GC and my flooring guys used them for creating stair treads on a circular stair we were redoing, so I would suggest inquiring at a good (i.e. professional) flooring supplier.
good idea. thanks______________________________________________

I wouldn't use biscuits for the joints. Use two 3/8 x 2 dowels at each joint.
Wear your respirator when you cut the stuff-but you may already know. It smells nasty!

why not biscuits? you dont think the bamboo would take glue as well??or put differently.. if this was oak, would you still advise against biscuits?______________________________________________

Two reasons... I think that biscuits across endgrain (your door rails) could be trouble, and I just like the deeper joint that dowels make as opposed to biscuits.
good points.. you've convinced me______________________________________________

or a half lap ...
or some pocket screws.
I'd avoid the twin biscuits too.
when in doubt .. I say ya can't go wrong with a nice strong half lap.
