Hi everybody,
I want to put a window seat in an area that has baseboard heat, I really don’t want to move the baseboard so I was wondering if I encased the bottom of the cabinets being built in metal and then mounted vents in the front of the cabinets would heat loss be at a minimum, or if anyone has a better idea, please share.
Thanks.

Can the planned window seat unit be hung on the wall, so to speak, to elevate the seat above the convector ?
Taper the front wall of the window seat 'box' so it allows convective air movement for the baseboard unit.
Baseboard heaters are actually convectors more then they are radiators, and thus need to allow for airflow.
I'm too lazy to hook up the graphics tablet so please forgive my primitive/juvenile drawing that's attached...
I have seen convectors enclosed within cabinetry at walls. In the case of the window seat, I have some questions.
Do you paln to be able to use it for storage? Would you be opposed to having a grille along the length of it next to the window? Would you be opposed to having a similiar grille along the front of the cabinetry at the floor? Would the "sides" of the seat be exposed?
Which leads me to the suggestion. Box in the baseboard, put a long narrow bar-grille along the back next to window and put a grille along the front at the floor or on both sides, at the floor. That way, when you enjoying the new window seat, looking out at the snow and all, you will have a nice warm place to enjoy the view!
