I am replacing drywall and insulation in a basement that got an inch of water in one corner. The plates have mold and some of the studs have mold. I am replacing all the plates with PT lumber. The studs which have mold on them are being replaced. I considered tearning down the wall but there is electric which would make re- framing the wall difficult.
My question is this: Instead of batt insulation, could I put polysterene between the studs? Currently, there is visqueen between the foundation and the back of the stud wall which I plan on removing(the visqueen). Or would I be better off with unfaced insulation w/o visqueen?
Thanks

Where did the water come from?
Is the water entry problem already fixed?

There was a problem with the downspout which was fixed.

Couldn't you just sawzall out two cuts at each wire hole and let it fall out the back? That's what I do when I wanna keep the juice on but need to jerk the wall out.
