I line in northern Virginia. My basement slab is about six feet below grade. I’m repairing some finished basement flood damage. I removed about 1 foot of fiberglass insulation from the ourside walls. The water got about five inches deep and was removed in less than six hours. I first removed 16 inches of drywall and then the 12 inches of fiberglass kraft faced R-11. Do I need to put the insulation back when I repair the drywall? Will I have a potential condensation problem? I thinking of leaving the insulation out.

Insulation works best when it forms part of what is as close as reality permits a continuos uniform thermal barrier. Studs and air pockets and imperfect installation (yes, this does occur), etc., all conspire to keep the ideal from becoming reality. In other words, discard the wet insulation and replace it with new, after you have completely dried everything.
