I am completing a basement remodel, including boxing in the center of the ceiling for the ductwork run and the center beam, dropping the ceiling in this area about 6 inches each at 2 levels. It looks very attractive, with the walls plain and the ceiling textured with knockdown, painted ceiling flat white, and the walls painted a fairly light beige color. These boxed areas are textured , but should the vertical panels of the boxed area be textured and painted white, or should they be left plain and painted beige???? In other words, are the vertical panels wall area or are they ceiling area. Thanks for your opinions and advice!

Jack, if you want to hi-lite the drops, paint the faces beige. You want to lose the drops in the ceiling, paint em white. Or ask your wife, or the homeowner. Simple question, simple answer. Best of luck.
