I am going to start construction on our new house shortly and am receiving different info about what type of basement wall to use. The architect spec’d 10″ poured with #7 rebar 48″ o.c., prospective Builder A recommends using a 8″ poured wall with rebar (don’t know size, spacing), and prospective builder B recommends using 8″ block. Poured walls to be 9′ tall, block to be 12 courses. Footing to be 8″ deep by 20″. Whats really needed to have a dry basement and a sturdy house??? House will be in Columbus, Ohio.
