Hello, I have a question regarding bath fan and cloths dryer venting. My present set-up has 2 baths and the dryer located on the second floor of my home. All 3 exhausts run separately into the attic and then out through the gable end of the house. 1 bath has ~10′ run, second bath has ~20′ run and the dryer has ~20′ run. We are adding an addition to the side of our house which will cover the gable end that the exhausts protrude through.
What are options/recommendations for exhausting? The soffit will remain relative close to all if that is an option. The roof itself is pretty close too. The other gable end would turn the first bath run into 40′, is that too much?
BTW, home is located in MA
Thanks

Venting through both the soffit and roof are both routinely done. Some people are temperamentally against adding another penetration through their shingles and so try and avoid it, but done properly it is no different from any of the other roof vents you regularly see. Soffit vents require a flapper for vertical applications and can be difficult to route if the legs on your trusses are short - but again nothing that isn't done all the time. Short runs are definitely preferable.
