Hi all,
I need to install a bath ventilation fan over a tub/shower and wanted to add a humidistat to control it’s operation. Does anyone know of a product with an integral humidistat switch or had any experience installing a fan with say an inline humidistat?

I installed a Broan (I think) bathroom fan with an integral humidistat, which I got at Home Depot. It was 2+ years ago.

I've been using the Panasonic bathroom fans (very quiet). They don't come with a dehumidistat, so I ordered the Broan DH-100 from airshack.com-- about $30. It installs in place of the switch. The addition isn't done yet so I haven't had it all running yet.

So with that dehumidistat, you would just set the relative humiduty level you want, be it 30 % or 70%, or whatever, and never have to physically turn the bathroom fan on??
You could also hook up one of air to air heat exchangers to that dehumidistat if you wanted, or in other words use a heat exchanger instead of a bathrooom fan??

Yes, I'm putting the dehumidistats in bathrooms used primarily by my kids, figuring I won't have to worry about forgetting to turn them off and on. Here's a guide to setting the conrtols that I found online somewhere:
DEHUMIDISTAT A dehumidistat is a device to operate a ventilation system such as a bathroom fan or an HRV (Heat recovery ventilation) to exhaust the excess humidity out of your home. The setting of this unit is determined by the outside air temperature (see chart) Outside Air Temperature Inside Humidity Setting (home at 20 degrees C. - 68 F)
SUMMER TEMP. 50% 0 to -12 C. 40% 12 to -18 C. 35% 19 to -24 C. 25% 25 to -30 C. 20% -31 or below 15%
I really don't have the knowledge to cover your 2nd question.
The problem is that no one makes a stink switch.
I've had very good luck with timers, since people usually forget to shut fans off. I have installed humidistats in parallel with timers in rooms where moisture is of particular concern...basements that had mildew problems in the past or baths that have steam showers.
