I’ve seen ads for these acrylic liners for the tub and the tiled area above the tub. They simply fit right over what’s currently there.
“No need to replace the tile!”… the ads claim.
“No messy demolition!”
Please share your thoughts on these liners. I need to replace 1″ tile (which is hard to match) & have some plumbing done in 2 bathrooms of my townhouse. I will eventually rent this place in about another year or so.
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're going to rent out the place, Cheap and clean is the way to go.
But I have not had a good experience with liners. If they are not sealed VERY well the mold will just be unbearable. In the end my FIL had to replace the whole wall to get rid of the mold created by the liner being wet.
If you can afford the labour of yourself than retile the walls. The job will last longer than the tenents.
I'm not sure you are speaking of the same thing here. Your situation sounds more like an acrylic tub surround, maybe a one piece, or three piece unit?
What byDsign is speaking of is an acrylic insert made SPECIFICALLY for the tub you have in place. You give the company the model of the tub you want covered, and they make the insert at their factory, then comes to the job site to install it. It is an extremely tight and exact fit - just like a second skin. There is no room for moisture or mold to grow between the tub and insert.
They can also install a wall panel using the same material. It is akin to 1/8" corian wall surrounds, but a different material.
I really like the tub inserts. I have never used them personally, but have seen many in use, and the clients claim they haven't had any problems whatsoever. Looked very, very nice too. Makes the tub look brand new (if installed correctly).
My vote wold be for the insert AND the available wall panels.James DuHamel

Wow! You guys are GREAT!!!! I appreciate your responses.
Last nite, I found some cost info from an article written back in May which fits nicely into my budget. Estimates... $2200 - 3000.
Re-tiling would be an option if I could match the old 1" tiles; but I can't & I really don't want a mis-matched "look"... know what I mean?
Enjoy your Breaktime!
