First time caller!
I am replacing a bath tub and subfloor due to some previous water damage. I did not take note of the distance from the top of the previous subfloor to the top of the drain pipe prior to ripping out the floor. The replacement piece is the same width as the original floor. The distance between the top of the new floor and the top of the drain pipe is 1 3/8″. Is this distance too great, does the drain pipe need to be flush with the floor or will the threaded drain screw reach the drain pipe.
In need of some answers and a bath.
Thanks.

If I recall right, the overflow tube and drain usually work out to be about an inch or two below the subfloor. Then you use a threaded extension to get down where you need to be. I think your drain pipe stub is plenty long and you'll have to trim when you try to hook up the tub. Depends on the tub of course. Claw foots are higher up.
use a drain/overflow assembly with a slip joint, the assembly will be the same diameter as a kitchen sink tailpiece, that will fit into a "trap adapter" which is a compression fitting with some verticle adjustment
of course this means you'll need access to it after the tub is installed
caulking is not a piece of trim
