We’ve seen a few master bathrooms with fireplaces, sometimes a fireplace which is two sided and gives to the bedroom as well.
We really like them however our designer told us they are a really bad idea because of possible accidents.
What do you guys think? does anyone here have one of those fireplaces?
Thanks,
–Carlos

I generally like unconventional ideas, but this one's not clickin'. By the way, what kind of "accidents" are we talking about?

Actually the only danger we were told was burning yourself while on the bathtub with the fireplace on.

How close to the tub would it be? Seems like it would almost take an effort to get burned. --------------------------------------------------------

It would be fairly close to the tub, I am imagining a foot or so away from the edge of the tub.

What, are you kidding? Standard feature in all the better outhouses.

The joke potential is too easy, so I'll pass. That said, I think it would be pretty cool. Of course, you would have to keep towels and bathrobes away from it. It definately should have a grill.
Don't put the toilet near it.

One potential problem occurs when an exhaust fan overcomes the flue

Not sure but I think it would have to be a pretty strong exhaust fan, especially if it's a 2 sided fireplace. But I imagine it could potentially be an issue.--------------------------------------------------------

Might be cool looking in Homes & Garden, but in the real world it gets way to hot for me just with running hot water.
We've got a bathroom fireplace in the MB. I converted in to a gas/coal setup, and light upon getting in the shower in the evening; bathroom usually about 55 degrees.
Towel rack moved in front.
Nice place to stand drying off.

Forgot to attach a pic - the chimney is on the right; fireplace faces left.

I've seen quite a few. Most are all glass enclosed. There isn't draft or contact with flame problems. You do need to maintain code distances from combustible materials. One foot is too close, especially with an acrylic tub.
Wood is a lot of mess and work. You don't have much control over it once the fire is going. I'd go with a gas unit that you can turn on and off with a switch. In a bathroom, they are mostly for ambiance. How much time do you get to spend lollygagging around in the bathroom? No sense having a fire that burns a few hours with no one around.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
