I have a plaster ceiling (1920’s) which I am in the process of trying to strip the paint off. This is very hard going as there are 5 or six layers of paint and I’m sure one one or some of them are lead. The more recent stuff is peeling off rather readily but the oldest is really stuck and resisting the heat gun. I’d rather just stop where I am and just sand it down until it’s realitivly even and then cover it with a primer sealer and then paint it. The problem is that since I’m half way, I’d have different bases, in some cases plaster, and in others old paint. Is there a bombproof paint out there that I should use to cover both these and resist moisture inherent in a bathroom. There will be a fan but I am not convinced that that will lick the miousture problem (pun intended). I’ve heard of epoixies and other modern things I could use. Any ideas? Could I coat it with a sort of prep compound that would let me skim coat plaster over the whole lot? I’ve heard of a thing called plast weld? Would that do it? Any help wil be appreciated it. Thanks.

Acrylic bonding agent, then patching compound to smooth it out. Sand if needed lightly. Prime then paint.
Piffin's already headed you in the right direction, but I'll add this........Zinnser makes a paint specifically for bathrooms that gets top ratings.
Thanks for the info. I'll look for that paint brand. Have a good one. Charles.
