I am finishing my basement and put a nice bathroom in. my questions are what is the CORRECT way to finish the joint where drywall meets tile backer, drywall mud or thinset? Also I already painted and used top grade paint, but it was not “bathroom” paint. Is this a major issue since it is a spare bath with a exaust fan and a hand held shower unit, not a wall shower? thanks for your input.

If I understand your question from the backer board to the drywall I would use butyl but from the tile to the drywall, I would use color matched sanded caulk to create a expansion joint because the 2 materials would expand and contract differently
