We are remodeling our kitchen and bath, and need to find a shower or bathtub that will fit thru a 32″ door. We are leaning towards a shower because we figure when we get older it will be easier to get into and out of a shower (we have a second floor bath). Wifey wants a pan and tiled walls (which tiling will be our job). I want a one piece unit that will be leak free forever (yeah right). Our plumber suggested Lasco, and Aker, and said he thought Aqua Glass quality had slipped. What manufactors do you like, and what type should we go with. We want a more traditonal style. Thanks for the hot tips! P.S. We went to two local show rooms and they only seem to want to sell what they have on display. We will consider having one fabicated out of Swanstone.

I am going to bump myself. I know there are some opinions out there.
Thanks!
If your wife want tile and you are giving on that, if you have some talent you can do a tiled shower yourself. The cost is really dependent on the cost of the tile. Check out http://www.schluter.com/4625.aspx they have a dvd that explains the system pretty well and its a pretty easy set up to install. Also if this interests you, check out the john bridge tile forum for TONS of info and they'll answer questions in more detail since they're tiling nuts.
I've done both, tiled and one piece showers and showers with just the prefab base. The tiled showers are BY FAR the nicest and allows you to build what you want.
