I have a house that I’m working on built in 1869. There is a section of beam that sits on the founfdation that has had termite damage. There is an exterior wall that sits on this beam. Under normal circumstance, I would just remove the old beam where bad and replace with new. However, this is a 8″ by 8″ oak beam and although part of the center has been eaten by termites, there is still a decent amount of good wood…more then you would find in a 2×8 sill used today.
I would still like to make some effort to “stabilize” the beam and wondered, is there some product that I could “inject” into the beam to shore it up? I’m thinking drill a few holes in the top and pour/inject into beam. Epoxy? Non shrink grout? Anyone have a reccomendation as to what might work?

The old timer's fix would be to dig out the bad spots and pack it with mortar.
