Hi All,
I’ve purchased a roll of copper flashing to be used to flash the ledger for a deck I’m building at my home. Do I need a bending brake to form this material so it slips up under the siding and does an upside down “L” over the ledger, or can I simply slide the copper up under the siding, then “form” the bends I need with a 2×4 and a mallet?
Seems like the copper will be hidden by the decking, so as long as it covers the ledger it would seem to be an OK way to go…any comments?
Thanks,
Dave

For that purpose you can probably bang it into the right shape, using a few pieces of lumber. Though it's probably easiest if you cut it into about 6' lengths and lap them (about 6") after forming.
BTW, the proper term is "forming", not "bending".
