Trying to get some suggestions on HD contractor electric cement mixer. Anyone use the plastic ones, are they holding up on the job? Don’t really know whose making or selling good ones. Thanks.

ive got the biggest electric one they make ( i think)...i got it out of the northern tool catalog...it was build in seattle WA...and the name escapes me as i type...
the bugger was not cheep , it has a large big mouth orange plastic drum that sit on a tilt
it works fine at best...seems like it was made with cheep thin steel..and if you dont add the water first it will not mix,,,, ive poured a few concrete countertops with it but have a heck of a time getting a good low water mix out of the thing..
ive actually gottin 4 cubic feet out of it before...the motor is strong...the gear ring is cheep
i thing the makes spent all there money on the tires and the drum..
dont waste your money on the HD mixer, go with
one of the used heavy duty rental units, Stone,
Whiteman, Monarch, get a brand name .I have a
Monarch that I bought from a fellow contractor
6yrs ago, its a well built unit ,poured a lot of yards of
concrete with the thing .

I bought this one last year from my local mason supplier. I had to do 16 sono tubes for a deck and we couldn't get a cement truck within 50 yards of the site - this was the next best option.
Poly drum is great, imo. Cleans easily and is somewhat translucent so you can see what's going on inside.
It also came with a taller stand so the whole unit gets about 3ft off the ground, usefull for filling wheelbarrels, 5 gallon pails or positioning directly over a sono tube and tilting it to fill.
I only get to use it once a month or so, not lots of experience with it but I've been happy with it....cost around $600 if I remember correctly.
