Are there any good forums for discussing home dishwashers?
I wanted to ask about the Bosch models, especially the plastic bottom tub ones

We have a Bosch with a SS tank. Love it. Only gripe is the silverware basket.
I'm not enamored with the one in the house we just bought. It holds far fewer dishes than my old Kenmore did even though it looks like about the same footprint. It doesn't have an "eco" mode to save on water, it doesn't have a hi-temp mode for when the cutting board that was used for raw meat is in there, and it doesn't have a timer so you can load it and have it start automatically after the kids are bathed and in bed. Add to that it was installed wrong so tips out of the counter when opened. We called Bosch to get mounting brackets and they didn't have them available (?) and had to be special ordered.
I'll grant that It is quieter than my Kenmore was.
Re saving water, AFAIK, all of the recent Bosch models use about half the water of competitors -- we never worry about it competing for hot water.
Of course, with any brand you pay more for extra features. Ours (not top of the line) has four modes (from rinse/hold to pot scrubber). I believe they had a cheaper model with only two modes. And if we'd paid more we would have gotten the better silverware basket.
As for the bad installation, that can happen with any brand. The Bosch is really easy to install, so whoever installed it was an idiot.
The older Bosch DW's
were great to install. Nice cab mount to either side and full upfront leveling of all 4 legs. Wonder if they continued that system.
That sounds like the one we got a couple of years ago.

I installed one in a kitchen remodel several yrs ago and she was and I think is very satisfied with it. Haven't talked with her in a couple yrs. Might be a reason to stop, reminding her of course I'm still in business.
Bosch is best
Don't even think about whirlpool. Our Bosh is the best appliance we own--and we have 4 kids. Had it about 2 years and it simply cleans better, runs quieter and among all the reviews it wins. It is more money, however with the grief I have had from other brands, they normally last 1-2 years in this house.
Yeah, a wonderful thing about the Bosch is how quiet it is. Even standing next to it you can barely hear it running. And it gets things cleaner with zero pre-rinsing than our old unit did with things pre-rinsed.

I have a Bosch w/ a SS tub and think it's marginal at best. Cleans ok, and it's fairly quiet. Service sucks. Behind those expensive buttons you push is a bunch of cheap plastic.
My clients want Bosch. I get 'em... but, my next one will be a Kenmore.
Good luck if you buy a Kenmore. You might get a Bosch, or a whirlpool or samsung or god for bid a GE.

they're not all created equal... or for the same price.
Kenmore may be good now, but all through my childhood and up until my last experience about 20 years ago, their stuff was throw-away -- not designed to last more than 5-10 years.
