Yesterday I saw some Bi-metal utility knife blades. According to the box they last 3 times longer than standard ones.
I discovered years ago that a Stanley blade didnt last anything near as long as they once did.
I burn them up fairly fast. Do the bi-metal really last that much longer?
Is 2 X the price of ‘standard’ blades worth it?
If they are that much better then to me the price is of little concern.
Thanks

I did a 20 squre cedar shingle roof this summer, all the felt, cedar breather etc. and a slew of sheetrock, and a slew of fiberglass ductboard still on the SAME blade..I flipped it around in july I think.
Yup, they are that good.

Thanks for the info.
I will go and get some. The Stanley blades dont last long at all. A reasonable amount of drywall and the thing has had it to the point where it wont sharpen a pencil. The only thing keeping it going is the point that breaks the paper. Useless otherwise.

Ditto what Sphere says. They are that good. Here in USA, the orange box store stopped carrying them because they cost more than the junk ones. Well, duh! They are better!

I like them myself for certain jobs like DW and paper and such. But if you are going to be cutting poly on concrete or triming it off at the floor I thro a Stanley in there and let it take the beating.
As a trim carpenter I dig out a lot of hardwood slivers and Guess what -- Those bimetal from lenox don't have a point on the end-No good . When it comes to trimming shims off door jambs they are the best. I know what you are saying " Who shims doors anymore?" Yeah I know--But call backs cost to much.
Whats that you say--Oh My 2 cents are up--OK thanks. Mike
The ones I saw were made by Irwin and looked identical to the Stanley ones I am used to.
For 10 I think they were around $15
We dont have Home Depot here. We have what I assume are our versions of it, but I have never been in one. :-)

Irwin you say-I'll have to check into that --I think that the ones I bought were Lenox. I may have to find some of those Irwin blades and try them out--But from what I have been reading I
should be good with a 5 pack for now. Mike
Found them (irwins) and you are right -they are shaped the same as the Stanleys. Got a point for digging slivers and I may have a new favorite blade--Thanks for the heads up on the Irwins. Mike
