I run it. no big deal. the stuff that comes out of the pump at my local gas station does o.k. but the homemade stuff my buddie makes doesn't seem to get as good a mileage and it smells like french fries.and i only change my filter when my truck starts falling on it's face. i have an 03 duramax.
I use it about half the time in my duramax chevy.

Depends a lot on where you're filling up. The big problems with biodiesel are freshness (it slowly decomposes at ambient temperature - just like regular diesel, but faster) and residual water content. If the outfit you're buying it from doesn't control for these, then you might need to monitor your fuel filter.
Running pure oil ("Straight Vegetable Oil" or SVO) is the only biodiesel that requires engine modifications.
Biodiesel actually offers some running advantages because of it's intrinsic lubricating properties. It also has greater "solvent" properties, which means it tends to loosen up engine deposits. With older motors, this can cause an initial slug of deposits that once again, end up in the fuel filter. We run a mix (B10, B90, whatever..) most of the time, and the Jetta wagon runs just fine.

I'd make my own from WVO (waste vegetable oil) if I had the time, and my employer didn't have a diesel pump out back. Iam told no changes need to be done.
