The building inspector said I had to use black 6 mil polyethylene under the slab. Clear was not allowed and he didnt know why. Do any of you know why?

You can't see the bodys if you use black...
I have heard two reasons for this. (don't know for a fact either is accurate though)
1) Black resists degradation due acids contained in the soils better than clear .
2) Clear allows the passage of light which can promote plant growth under the plastic. (Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me when discussing crawl space moisture barriers but it is what I was told.
