Hello all ,its been a long time since I popped a question around these parts. Hope all is doing well.
I am taking on a project. Half a circle deck with curved railings. There is actually an existing deck 7′ x 24′ already up and I’ll be extending it to 15′ out from the home but I’ll be rounding back to the existing deck so ill just be framing the half round portion.
So my job will be to remove existing PT 5/4 decking and frame the half round 8′ x 24′.
So we have a 14′ radius to deal with. Now my problem is the color choices. They want to use composite and Trex is something they brought up but they want white railings and a wood tone decking material. Trex Artisain Series ( white) cant be curved because of the finish. I looked into Timber Tech and same thiing there. They are not opposed to going with a wood tone top and bottom rail and using white posts and spindles. But Trex has hollow spidles. Can I still nail through the side of the top railing into the spindles and cut small squares and nail them spaced on top of the bottom rail that would fit into the spindles on the bottom rail ? Or should I go with Trex top and bottom rail but with white solid spindles from Timber tech therby doing away with the nailing problem but mixing two brands and most likley void warranty?
Is there a white Railing system out there (Wood Composite) that I can bend?
Also is there any where I can have them prebent? I dont mind trying out the bending myself seems like a fun challage but if its not cost efficiant then I would try something different to save my customer the dough.
Thanks all and I look forward to chatting again as I have missed all the good debates and knowledge.
Thanks, Ronbo from All trade
