Finishing my deck tomorrow. I want to conceal the fasteners as much as possible. Aside from using fastening systems, how well does toenailing screws inot the lower corner work with 5/4 PT deckboards? How about toenailing with Spiral shanked or similar Galven nail?
I cannot get underneath the deck to screw from under.

It might work on one edge......
but how bout the other edge?
I've persuaded a curved 5/4 deckboard using toenail or screw, but beware splitability too.
ended up screwing them down on the face..oh well. My heart was in the right place. Also, I picked each and every board for straightness and face quality. MY job was 1 mile from the Lowes. One board was buried about 12 deep in the pile. When I pulled it out 3 feet of one end was so crooked I had to pull it and use it for treads. My point is this: treated pine needs to be not only persuaded to obey but forced to obey as soon as you get it out of the store. Over the years it has gotten worse. I was a fool to think I could finesse PT lumber.
