I’ve always done this, matter of fact I thought it was code, with 2 nails thru the block into the beam. I also think there should be blocking over all the beams. Isn’t this correct for all floor systems? I’ve just been doing it for so long, I forget where I learned it. Seems to me that’s the first thing Inspecters look for, especially with cantilevers.
The other guy is saying you should just put a row of blocks mid-span, whether they fall over the beam or not. He’s also saying to use Hurricane Ties on each joist/beam connection. I’ve never heard about doing this.
Could someone enlighten me, tell me if I’m right or wrong on this, and perhaps explain the structual logic behind it ?
