I am planning on doing a total remodel of my house and am considering installing blue board w/ a plaster veneer. Does anyone know what the sq. ft. cost of installation of blueboard/plaster veneer vs. gyp? I live in California.

$3/ft v 62.5 cents, labor only.
More seriously, the archives have several discussions on this. The guidelines I got here and on another board said $1/ft for veneer plaster labor and materials. Unfortunately price is very elastic w/ regard to supply and demand, and in my area of NC there is little demand and less supply. My quotes ranged from $3 to $5.50/ft labor only. Drywall quotes ranged from $20/board to $2.50/sq ft, labor only. It was sobering. Anyway, the contractor we choose started this week and we're doing a mix of the two to economize. Sad to say, but my closets and workshop won't have the plaster walls I had hoped for...
*Mark,It all depends on the area you live. The prices JimK refer to are pretty close to what you'll find around here in NC but go to Florida and the prices will be much different.BrewOldHouseForums.net

Just paid about .77 per foot for drywall, labor and material. No bullnose, skip trowel finish. my drywall guy calls it a "modified santa fe" finish. Looks pretty much like thinwall when its painted.
I didn't check on thinwall prices, cause I was told they were kinda high in my area of CA.
This guy works out of palmdale, so if youre close to there I'll get you his name and #.

In 1987 I added 600sq ft. to my house, although I knew better I did not excavate for a crawl space. I built over an existing concrete patio. There is about 8" clearance from th botheom of the floor joists to the slab. knowing i migIt have moisture problems I put down a 6ml poly ployr barrier on the slab. the crawl space such as it is has two foundation vents. Now all these years later the sub floor is buckling at the joints. I want to renovate the space but did not want to tear up the floor and try to excavate, any suggestions. ( I know IknowI knowow i should have 18" min crawl space but I dont' and I knew better at the time.) it was a money thing.
please provide the least erroneous answer to this unanswerable question.
*You'd be most likely to get a useful answer if you made it its own topic with a relevant title, rather than piggybacking a plaster question.
