We are going to be heating water with a boiler (propane or oil-fired, undecided) for hydronic RFH on the main 2200 sf floor of a two story house.
Give me some recommendations for heating water for showers, laundry, etc. There are 2 full baths and one powder room, plus a kitchen with dishwasher, and laundry.
Local electric rates are ridiculously low, in the range of 4 cents. There is a moratorium on the use of electric boilers for doing RFH in new construction.

Why the moratorium ?

Too much new construction using RFH and electric boilers is taxing the capacity of the municipal electric plant.
Bob, you could go with an indirect water heater. Recovery time is great. -Ed
Indirect Fired DHW, run on a priority zone off of the boiler.
BTW, with a 90% efficient appliance, $0.04/kwh is the equivalemt of $1.03/gallon of propane (avg-exp) or $1.05/therm for ng (very exp). In other words, moratorium or not, electric resistance is still (usually) the most expensive way to heat.
Indirect tank is the way to go. Also leverages your investment that much more if you should spring for higher efficiency boiler.
