Wanting to insulate the poured concrete foundation from the outside, how should we best fasten our 2″ foam board to it? Tapcon screws with biggie washers we can do, but how about some kind of trowel-on mastic to aid things? If we use your recommended adhesive, then at what spacing should we put our mechanical fasteners?

I can't think why you would want to tack it. Use PL 300(or is it 500?) made for foam and spot glue it. Use scrap to hold it while it sets up and backfill holds it forever after.
