Hey folks,
Its been a while since I’ve been here but I find myself with another unique job and the need for some input.
I’m installing a 10″ diameter thru-the wall fan in a CMU wall with the cells poured solid. Yeah, I know…URGH!
Any htoughts on the best way to bore the hole? I’m thinking a series of holes with my hammer drill around the circumference but if anyone has a better thought, I’m open to it as thats a lot of holes! Thanks!

Kango. Don't screw around with anything smaller or you'll be at it all year....

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship...
But it is not this day.
Unless you want to buy a very expensive coring bit... or perhaps you could rent one that size.
I would opt for the circumference drilling although you will find that it may be difficult to keep each hole staight... you will then find that although your pattern on the drill side of the wall is nice and round the opposite side will be a mess. You can clean this up with a chisel though (rotary hammer).
It seems like it'll just be an elbow-grease intense project.
Another thought is to cut a square hole with a concrete saw and then mortar the pipe into place.
