Hey guys and gals,
Anybody got a idea on boring through hardiplank? I just bored a 4″ through some 3/8″ and ruined a nice hole saw. (Knew it would but I had to get the job finished) I am thinkin I’ll be doing this pretty regular and would like to get a dedicated borer. (and buy a new tool) Any ideas?
Thanks,
KD

Home depot had a "cutter" for installing high hats lights and its a ring with carbide coating. I used it for cutting two holes in thick stucco last year with no sign of wear. It might work on hardi??
Get carbide tipped hole saws. Diamond would be better if you do this for a living.

although the hole will not be as clean as with a proper hole saw, I've used a metal toothed blade for the sawzall and it worked just fine. Take your time and it will be clean even if you are cutting across courses. This isn't a good solution if you are worried about what's behind the wall though.
hardi bit in yur RotoZip with a circle cutter guide..
