I just bought a house from the 1870’s which is going to need lot’s of framing work and countless joist hangers. I’ll start up a thread on the house in the next week or two.
Can anyone share their experience with this bostitch? It appears to have replaced the 88rh model which rated pretty high in the last fhb review. They appear to be selling for about $130 which seems pretty reasonable.
Any recommendations on an equivalent nail gun would certainly be welcome.
Thanks,
HO

I have had that gun now for about 3 years now. The gun has alot of power and is a good gun. this past week we had a teco nail get jammed and could not get it unjammed. We ended up breaking the nose piece, and it was cheaper to buy a new gun than to fix that one.
Where can you get this nail gun for $130?
also, how it this model different from the 88rh model?
The spec's say it has a little more power than the 88 (1,000lbs vs 1,050lbs). Also, the 88rh comes only with a sequential trigger and the f21pl comes with a sequential and a bump trigger.
For the work I do, the bump trigger is a big item.
I've seen it for $130 on ebay. Just search for Bostitch F21PL
If the teco nails jam, what brands have you had good experiences with?

Thanks for the feedback. What brand nails do you normally use? I've heard about difficulties getting nails for bostitch guns, do you have any preferred sources?
thanks

I have always used bostitch nails in it with maybe one in 150 jam. This last time was a good one. If it jams and you can't get the nail out with resonable effort ,send it in to a repair shop.
I noticed that the F21Pl uses 20 degree plastic collated nails. The other Bostitch nailers use wire weld nails. Will these plastic collated ones be harder to find? is this something new for bostitch? Is there a aftermarket brand that works just as well?
Actually it uses 21* nail strips.
The 21* plastic collated nails are about the most common nails out there and are available in a generic.
Bostitch has been making the 21* plastic collated stick nailers for some time, as well as the 28* full round and clipped head wire collated stick nailers, 33* paper collated stick nailers
