So I recently bought a house that I’m renovating and one of the walls has a bad bow. The bow stretches across two rooms and seems to originate at the thing that is kind of like a jack stud to the right of the window…but it’s face nailed to the header. Not sure what’s going on there.
Someone added some sister studs to make the wall look a little better but it still looked pretty terrible sealed up.
Before I opened up the wall I was thinking I would add full length sister studs to get a plumb surface to hang drywall on. Is it possible to pull this wall in and make it straight? I have a feeling the bow is due to that double top plate that is in the lower part of the window. What do you guys think?
