a 15 amp breaker keeps tripping I have narrowed it down to the carport light and lamp post at end of driveway. I can turn the lights on and it takes about 3 to 4 min to trip the breaker. would it be a fixture going bad or what?

Or a rodent-chewed cable, or a fault in the fixture, or a bad breaker, or one of a dozen other possibilities.
Separate cable run to the lamp post from the circuit. Breaking the circuit that way will teel you which segment the short or ground fault is in. If that's the culprit, then disconnect the fixture on the post and check the resistance of the cable run and then the fixture.
Have fun.
