I subbed out some brick repair and made it clear that the mortar color had to match the original. The work was done quite well and I was told that over time the mortar would change color to the original. Its been 4 months and no change so far. Its still a medium gray that needs to get to a sandy brown. Does this take years to become the original color or was I deceived? I honestly think it might just take along time, but I want to double check.

It does take on the order of a year. A **very** mild acid wash can speed it along a bit.
grey to sandy brown? man i don't think so... if it was a darker brown and was to fad to a lighter brown i might buy it... but i have never seen grey turn bown unless it's miss clairal hair color... then...

Yeah, that's true -- generally it starts out dark and turns lighter. But it could be just a lot of lime on the surface. Hard to say for sure.
