Hi All,
I have used the same mason for the past 20 years. Our pricing for projects have always pretty close. Unfortunatly he retired a little over a year ago. Another contractor refered me to a mason that he uses.
I reguarly get prices from my subcontractors during my bidding process however I use estimating software for some of the smaller portion of some jobs when time does not allow me to get all of my subcontractors to bid on every portion of the job.
The price quote that I recieved from the new mason was close to my estimating software pricing in a couple of areas and quite a bit higher in other areas. The masons price for 8″ block and 4″ brick wall was 6.5% higher than my estimating software. The price for brick veneer over wood framing was 14% higher. The price for brick paving over an existing concrete pad (bricks laid flat) set in mortar and mortar joints was 50 % higher
This portion of the project calls for installing brick pavers overtop of an existing concrete sidewalk The sidewalk is 110′ x 5′. This is a straight sidewalk without any curvers or turns. It is as basic as a brick paver sidewalk can be. The price that the mason quoted was $25.57 a square foot. My estimating softwarecalls for $17.03 a square foot.
Do any of you contractors or masons have any square foot prices for installing brick pavers that I can use for comparison. I know location is a factor. This project is located in Silver Spring, MD just north of Washington DC
Thanks
Paul
