Here's my guess: He was shaving with an open blade, dropped his razor, and grabbed for it while it was in mid-air?
Those look bad but they're a lot better than they could be. I know someone who bought a chop saw and a week later, it lived up to its name. Left thumb, clean off.
This looks just like my hand injury from August. Want to know what happened ? I'll give you three choices of what I did that day. Ran the chainsaw and cut down a few trees; ran the tablesaw, cut a few boards; waterskied for an hour or so. Yup, you guessed it, waterskiing ! Was finishing up for the day, grabbed the waterski with my left hand, cut the tip off my little finger, and severed the nerve in my ring finger. Never would have imagined how much damage a waterski could do. Biggest lesson learned : saving for a Saw Stop. Nerve damage is so not fun. Take care.
Push stick. I always get too close before I grab one, thats why I've done similar things to myself on two occasions.
Always good to be reminded.
